The Three Evils of Society
Dr. King gave this speech at the first and only National Conference for New Politics. It is an amazing speech which looks at American’s three deadliest sins, War, Racism and Poverty!
Why Jesus Called a Man a Fool
In this sermon Martin Luther King Jr. explains the importance of us prioritizing our life in order to please God, which is Love God first, family second and be productive in the society. Mr. King makes reference to the scripture in the Bible, Luke 12:13 -21, where Jesus gives the Parable of the Rich Fool, which is a story of a wealthy man who depended solely on his economic wealth to be his shield and his comforter.
Dr. King makes two simple but important points to begin with. He says: “Number one in your life’s blueprint, should be a deep belief in your own dignity, your worth and your own somebodiness…”
“Secondly, in your life’s blueprint you must have as the basic principle the determination to achieve excellence in your various fields of endeavor.“
On 4 February 1968, Martin Luther King, Jr. preached ‘‘The Drum Major Instinct’’ from the pulpit of Ebenezer Baptist Church. In the speech, Dr. King says that the great task of life is essentially to transform our ego, by redirecting our desires away from selfish, competitive goals and towards our spiritual growth and service to others. Let us all aim to be truly great, so our lives may be a blessing on the world.
